The turbo Vado is the new and in-direct replacement for the Turbo series of electric fitness bicycles from Specialized. The Vado gets an upgraded motor for 2017 and is driven from the crank, which has several advantages over the old Turbo model. For starters maintenance is much easier. The crank driven motor makes wheel swaps and puncture repairs a doddle. You can easily remove the wheel without having to disconnect any electronics. Weight distribution is also a massive advantage to the new Turbo Vado. Having personally ridden the old Turbo my only criticism was the heavy rear end. When you hit a lump in the road at any speed over 20mph the front end would react as expected. The back end would want to take off the second it hit the bump and the increased weight meant that it was much harder to control, the faster you want to go the more cautious you would have to be of those lumps and bumps. The Turbo Vado houses the additional weigh under the rider. Balancing the bike out much better.
