Hi and thanks for watching. My name is Hilton Holder, and I started promoting the new genre of lightweight folding electric wheelchairs four years ago.
During this time I’ve literally had to help hundreds of clients with their need for a more portable mobility aid, and what I noticed more than anything among all my clients was the need for a lightweight electric wheelchair lift.
Even though the lightweight folding electric wheelchairs we provide are comparatively portable at between 20 and 30 kg or around 40 to 60 lb, these weights are still far too heavy to lift for anybody but those with normal upperbody strength.
What I’ve learned is that due to the lack of a portable lightweight electric lift in the mobility aid market, there must be hundreds of thousands of individuals with impaired mobility that are stuck between four walls and in lonely nursing homes and tiny dank apartments.
Now I dont get it. We’ve had astronauts landing on the moon in the 60s already, but somehow the market failed to identify and come up with a lightweight portable electric wheelchair lift. It’s quite pathetic really.
Here we have our ageing parents and disabled friends not being able to access the community to satisfy even their most basic needs like shopping, attending doctor appointments, spending time with friends, going to the movies or simply getting out of the apartment for a breath of fresh air.
I am not an engineer, but during the time I have been marketing these wheelchairs I’ve been overcome with the personal strength and courage that so many mobility impaired people have to come up with every day in order to cope with the frustration of severely limited mobility, something the rest of us just take for granted.
Seeing this need for making wheelchairs more portable motivated me to teach myself how to design parts and have them manufactured.
One of the first parts I actually designed and had manufactured were these sliding brackets that allowed my clients to quickly detach the back wheels of their lightweight folding electric wheelchairs in order to reduce the lifting weight.
This has helped scores of my clients by making it easier to lift their wheelchairs into the back of a car trunk or boot, but most do not have the dexterity nor the strength to disassemble and assemble their wheelchairs by themselves.
With your support, we will be able to provide mobility impaired individuals with an almost effortless solution to load their wheelchairs and mobility scooters into a car trunk or boot, and I cant wait to see all the extra smiles on their faces
